Now that the holiday season is over, the pop-up shops that hit Overton Square last month are gone and Loeb Properties is taking the next step for renovations.

Many outdoor art projects are underway - an initiative led by Loeb Properties Executive Vice President Asset Management Louis Loeb and local artist, public art consultant Carol DeForest. The following projects are expected to appear:

Mural by David Lynch on the north face wall of Bari Ristorante.
        Large-scale sculpture by Yvonne Bobo
        Mosaic opportunity by Lea Holland
Backlit stained glass by Suzy Hendrix for the upstairs windows above the former TGIFriday’s
Interactive music exhibit by Sean Murphy (think windchimes, xylophones) for the Trimble Courtyard

In other renovations, structural repairs - internally and externally - are being made to the west building, this is where Memphis Pizza Cafe and Golden India are located in Overton Square.

The exterior is being painted with a new color scheme, Loeb Properties’ designer is Jack Rainey with Rainey Contract Designs.

Other changes include adding modern commercial storefronts to the parking garage-facing spaces and repaired rear balconies for the Madison-facing spaces.

“We are making these renovations and changes to bring the buildings up-to-date and more leasable for today’s retailer, while maintaining their historical character,” said Marketing Director Leslie Jerkins in December.

The east building, or curved building, including the future home of Bar Louie and the former Friday’s space also has exterior and interior structural repairs, including painting and art.

The middle building (or “atrium building”) will began major renovations this week.

The parking garage under construction is still slated to open in August 2013.
