    Construction swarms Overton Square

    Staff Reports

Construction at Overton Square hit a fever pitch on Monday when work started on the $2.8 million Hattiloo Theatre.

Nearby, construction crews are about two months away from finishing a $15 million public parking garage and floodwater detention basin for the Memphis entertainment district.

Across Trimble from the three-level parking structure, other construction workers are in the middle of the $20 million renovation of the square’s old buildings lining Madison.

Loeb Properties will wait until the parking garage is complete before holding an opening event, partner Louis Loeb said Monday, adding, “No way to get any more in there without space for parking.’’
